Volunteer with TreesGreenville

TreesGreenville volunteers have helped plant over 5000 trees in parks, schools, and neighborhoods throughout Greenville County.  We plant most Saturday morning’s October – March.

Volunteer Opportunities for Groups

TreesGreenville works with groups of all sizes.  Contact Us if you’d like to schedule a volunteer event with your group. Our planting season is October – March, but we offer mulching and pruning projects throughout the year.

Corporate Sponsored Plantings & Volunteer Events

TreesGreenville has partnered with many of our Corporate Partners on Corporate Volunteer Events.  These include:  Michelin N.A., TD Bank N.A., GE Energy, Sage Automotive Interiors, Johnson Controls, Scansource, and Duke Energy.  If you would like to plan a Corporate Volunteer Event, please call or email Joelle Teachey (864-313-0765 / jteachey@treesgreenville.org). Our planting season is October – March, but we offer mulching and pruning projects throughout the year.

FAQ’s

Do you plant rain or shine?  Yes.  However, in the event of extreme weather we will cancel.  Check this page for updates on if the weather is extremely bad.  Otherwise, we plant rain, snow, or shine.

My student needs community service hours.  Will someone be able to sign their paperwork?  Yes.

I’m a student and I need to volunteer for a class, can I do this with you?  Yes.  If you try to register for something that doesn’t have any more “tickets” left, email us.  Students are always welcome.  Someone will be there to fill out your paperwork.

What will we be doing, as volunteers?  What should we expect?  First, you will attend a brief planting workshop.  Then you will help us properly plant, mulch, and water trees.  If it rains close to or during the planting, expect to get muddy.

Are the plantings family friendly?  Yes, with one exception.  When we mulch and prune our Woodruff Rd and I-385 planting, we are on the side of the highway.  We post this as not family friendly and provide safety vests to the volunteers.

Do I need to bring anything?  If you have been prescribed an Epi-Pen for insect stings and bites, or an inhaler, please bring those.  It’s better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Do I need to bring tools and gloves?  We have adult sized tools and adult sized gloves (and orange vests).  If you bring your own gloves or tools (or your kids bring theirs), make sure they are clearly marked with your name.

Will there be snacks and drinks?  Sometimes.  We strongly encourage you to bring water and a snack if you’ll need it.

Will I get a t-shirt?  It depends on what you are helping out with.  After you plant 5 times, you earn a TreesGreenville Volunteer shirt.  If you volunteer for the ReLeaf Party or the Turkey Day 8k, you get a shirt.

Do I need to register?  It is very helpful if we know how many people to expect so we can plan accordingly.  It is not mandatory to register though.
